Flow to strong coupling in the two-dimensional Hubbard model

چکیده

We extend the analysis of the renormalization group flow in the two-dimensional Hubbard model close to half-filling using the recently developed temperature flow formalism. We investigate the interplay of d-density wave and Fermi surface deformation tendencies with those towards d-wave pairing and antiferromagnetism. For a ratio of next nearest to nearest neighbor hoppings, t′/t = −0.25, and band fillings where the Fermi surface is inside the Umklapp surface, only the d-pairing susceptibility diverges at low temperatures. When the Fermi surface intersects the Umklapp surface close to the saddle points, d-wave pairing, d-density wave, antiferromagnetic and, to a weaker extent, d-wave Fermi surface deformation susceptibilities grow together when the interactions flow to strong coupling. We interpret these findings as indications for a non-trivial strongly coupled phase with short-ranged superconducting and antiferromagnetic correlations, in close analogy with the spin liquid ground state in the well-understood two-leg Hubbard ladder.   We review various ways to express the partition function of the single-band Hubard model as a path integral. The emphasis is made on the derivation of the action in the integrand of the path integral and the results obtained from this approach are discussed only briefly.   Since the single-band Hubbard model is a pure fermionic model on the lattice and its Hamiltonian is a polynomial in creat...

Magnetic and superconducting correlations in the two-dimensional Hubbard model

The interplay and competition of magnetic and superconducting correlations in the weakly interacting two-dimensional Hubbard Model is investigated by means of the functional renormalization group. At zero temperature the flow of interactions in one-loop approximation evolves into a strong coupling regime at low energy scales, signalling the possible onset of spontaneous symmetry breaking. This ...

Application of the Schwarz-Christoffel Transformation in Solving Two-Dimensional Turbulent Flows in Complex Geometries

In this paper, two-dimensional turbulent flows in different and complex geometries are simulated by using an accurate grid generation method. In order to analyze the fluid flow, numerical solution of the continuity and Navier-Stokes equations are solved using CFD techniques. Considering the complexity of the physical geometry, conformal mapping is used to generate an orthogonal grid by means of...

We study the Mott transition in the two dimensional Hubbard model by using the variational cluster approximation. The transition potential obtained is roughly Uc ≈ 2 and 6 for square and triangular lattices, respectively. A comparison between results of this approximation and other quantum cluster methods is presented. Our zero-temperature calculation at strong coupling show that the transition...

Strong-coupling perturbation theory for the two-dimensional Bose-Hubbard model in a magnetic field

The Bose-Hubbard model in an external magnetic field is investigated with strong-coupling perturbation theory. The lowest-order secular equation leads to the problem of a charged particle moving on a lattice in the presence of a magnetic field, which was first treated by Hofstadter. We present phase diagrams for the two-dimensional square and triangular lattices, showing a change in shape of th...
